In Loving Memory of John E. "Jack" Williams
John Edward "Jack" Williams, son of Major Al Williams, spent much of his life documenting and photographing his father's flights, works and personal moments. My Father, Jack was a powerful figure in his own right, having won best photographer and portraiture in the United States several times, photographing the Blue Angels, Thunderbirds and numerous famed aircraft, people and landscapes. I attribute the strength of our family to my grandfather's inspiration.
Jack Williams earned degrees in art, art history and photography from Duquesne University, Fordham University, Pittsburgh University and the Chicago Institute of Art. He took over the management of the Williams farm, The Eyrie, after Major Al's passing in 1958. He worked for newspapers as an editor and photographer before making his way to running his own professional studio. His artistic talent impacted his family and made a passionate appreciation for academia and the arts on and in their lives.
Al's wife and Jack's mother, Alice Williams, is credited with collecting his memorabilia and artifacts. from time to time we will feature some of these treasured items.
Jack Williams passed away in 1991. His dream of promoting Major Al's life and works is realized and continued through Al's grandchildren Michael and Monica Williams, as well as Michael's family, wife Michelle and children Brennan and Rylan.
